When tradition sparks innovation
When Walter Kissling founded his metal foundry in Bellach in 1945, the future of his business was anyone's guess. Today, some 80 years later, someone cooks, prepares, roasts or refines food using products from Kisag in almost every houshold in Switzerland. Kisag has become established as a brand that stands for reliable quality and useful inventions in the kitchen, and not just in Switzerland. And one which makes a wide range of kitchen utensils, from dough scrapers and fondue rechauds through to whippers and hand blenders for professional gastronomy.
The fact that we have been able to follow this path is largely thanks to our employees, our "company family", who make such a big contribution to the success of our business. We are therefore taking the opportunity of this wonderful anniversary to say "Thank you"! Thank you to all of those wo have and will continue to accompany us on this journey. And those who support us every day anew with their words and deeds as well as their many valuable ideas. We are already looking forward to the next 80 years.

Innovative ideas for the kitchen - since 1945
Behind the foundation of Kisag AG was a creative mind with a strong pioneering spirit. When Walter Kissling founded Kisag AG in Bellach, Solothurn, Switzerland in the year 1945, he had no idea that his innovative ideas would have a lasting impact on life in many Swiss households over several generations.

The beginning as a foundry
Walter Kissling started out recycling aluminium waste to produce pure aluminium. He used this, in turn, for product developments in the household area. In the adjoining foundry, the enrepreneur manufactured cutters for french fries (pictured, manufactured in 1961), fruit presses, potato peelers and thin-walled cast aluminium pans. At that time, when the technology in the field of kitchen appliances was still in its infancy, this was a real high-tech product.

From pressure cookers to the Kisag whipper
Thanks to the inventive talent of Kissling, further new developments soon followed: In the early 1950s, the production of pressure cookers with patented pressure relief valves began. Among other developments, this was followed by frying pans with built-in thermometers., the Kisag whipper, which was patented in 1958 for the production of whipped cream with a charger system that was developed in-house, and a patented gas burner for rechauds and laboratories. The whipper quickly became a best seller and have sold millions of units every decade since. For many people, this saw the "Kisag whipper" becoming the epitome of a whipper.

Can openers, wooden spoons, peelers ...
This product line - due to iths wide range of applications in the kitchen - remains an important division of Kisag to this day. In addition to metal products, the use of plastics was increased, and the range of Kisag was extended to include can openers, spoons, peelers, dough scrapers and several additional practical kitchen helpers. Kisag now exports its product to some 20 different countries, ans also manufactures for other well-known brands as an OEM manufacturer.

Takeover by the VEBO cooperative
At the beginning of the 1980s, the family business launched by Walter Kissling 80 years ago was taken over by Albert Brüngger and continued to be managed in the second generation by Urs Brüngger. With the sale of Kisag to VEBO cooperative foundation, an optimum succession arrangement was found for every party in 2017. Ever since, Kisag has continued to operate unchanged, and all the local jobs have been retained.
